Players originally from England who were naturalized by Indonesia and are now on standby for the Vietnam national team

In order to get ready for their matchup against Vietnam in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup, Indonesia finished the naturalization process for a player who is now based in England and plays professionally there.

In the opening leg of the first qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup in Asia, which took place yesterday night (October 12), the Indonesian squad recently finished off Brunei with a 6-0 victory. This round of qualification is taking place in Asia. This result essentially secures Indonesia a ticket to the second qualifying round, as Brunei has basically no chance of turning the situation around in the return match on October 17. Brunei will play Indonesia again on October 17.

As we move on to the second round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup to be held in Asia, Indonesia will compete alongside Vietnam, the Philippines, and Iraq in the same group. The World Cup will return to Asia for the second round of qualifying for the tournament on November 16, 2023, and will continue through June 11, 2024.

Indonesia has recently finished the process of naturalizing defensive player Nathan Tjoe-A-On in order to get ready for their upcoming match against the Vietnamese team. This player is a member of Swansea City Club (England), which competes in the Championship. The Championship is the level of competition in the professional football league system in England that is directly below the Premier League.

Nathan Tjoe-A-On is 21 years old, stands 1 meter and 82 centimeters tall, and is versatile enough to play center back as well as left wing back. Nathan Tjoe-A-On is a native of the Netherlands who can trace his ancestry back to Indonesia through his grandpa.

This brings the total number of players naturalized by Indonesian football who originated in England to three. Previously, the island squad naturalized Jordi Amat, a 1m84 tall midfielder who had previously played for Swansea City and is now a member of the Johor Darul Ta'zim team in Malaysia. Amat had played for Swansea City.
