Top 10 best-selling smartphones in the first half of 2023: Apple and Samsung have no competitors

In the first half of 2023, every single spot on the list of the 10 best-selling smartphones is taken up by either Apple or Samsung. While Apple retains the first four slots, Samsung dominates the next six positions and has them all to itself.

According to a report that was just recently issued by a company that specializes in market research and analysis named Counterpoint Research (Hong Kong), Apple and Samsung have filled all 10 spots on the list of smartphone models that had the best sales in the first six months of 2023.

Apple products, including the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 13, have taken the top four spots on this list. Notably, there are four different smartphone models, according to a report that is very similar to the one that was done by Counterpoint Research. The item will be the best seller during the first three months of the first quarter of 2023.

Therefore, with the exception of the iPhone 14 Plus, all three of the other varieties of the iPhone 14 enjoy significant sales in the first half of the year 2023.

All of the other six spots in the list of the top 10 smartphones in terms of sales during the first half of the year 2023 belong to Samsung. However, with the exception of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which came in at number eight, all of the other Samsung smartphones on the list are items that fall somewhere between the mid-range and low-cost categories. This includes five models from the Galaxy A series.

The Galaxy A54 was the mobile device that demonstrated the most remarkable increase in sales during the second quarter of 2023. This smartphone did not make it onto the list of the top 100 best-selling smartphones in the first quarter of 2023; nevertheless, it climbed all the way up to sixth place in terms of sales in the second quarter of that same year.

In a similar manner, the Galaxy A14 smartphone finished in 87th place in terms of sales during the first quarter of 2023, but it climbed all the way up to fifth place during the following quarter.

According to the data published by Counterpoint Research, Samsung and Apple continue to hold the majority of the market share for smartphones. While Apple does not appear to have any competitors in the high-end smartphone area, Samsung demonstrates that the diversity of product segments has helped the business continue to achieve good sales in the market. This is in contrast to Apple, which seems to have no competitors in this segment.

However, Counterpoint Research also underlined that Apple and Samsung are facing rising competition from other manufacturers, primarily from China, such as Xiaomi, Realme, and Oppo. This is due to the fact that Chinese smartphone models are becoming increasingly popular. Equipped with a large number of features and a strong setup, but having a price that is considered to be "soft" to aid boost competition.

In the second quarter of 2023, Samsung has the lead in the market for smartphones, and Apple is close on its heels.

According to another part of the analysis put out by Counterpoint Research, Samsung is presently in the driver's seat in the smartphone industry in the second quarter of 2023, accounting for twenty percent of the market share. Apple is a close second with 17% of the market share.

The following three positions are held by three Chinese smartphone manufacturers: Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo. Together, they have a market share of 12%, 10%, and 8% respectively. The remaining 33% of the smartphone market is currently held by a variety of different brand names.
